De-Suefying the Mary-Sue

Mary-Sues and Gary-Stus; the bane of every conscious roleplayer's existence. But how do you prevent turning a good OC into a sparkly brain-melting Sue? Here are some tips.
1. Faults may look ugly on paper, but no character is complete without them. Like how every superhero needs a weakness, every OC needs something that keeps them from being too sickeningly perfect.
